Initial Setup
Throught this document the term iPhone is used as shorthand for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Konductor'11 V1.0 runs on all existing (up to and including spring 2011) iOS devices running V3.1.3 or later of iOS. There are no function differences with Konductor running on any supported hardware; though more recent models do run faster.
What Information You Will Need
Prior to its first use, Konductor needs to be configured with the IP addresses and configuration of your Media Server.
How To Find The Settings Of Your Media Server
There are three settings needed to communicate with your media server:
- IP Address
- Port
- URL
Konductor defaults the latter two to the correct values for most ReadyNAS / Twonky V4.x installations.
To find all these values go to the "Streaming Service" tab of you ReadyNAS server (via Twonky FrontView). Scroll down until you find the Twonky section this will gave a URL of the form:
http://192.168.1.34:8100/ContentDir/
Alternativly the value can be found on the main screen of the Linn Konfig utility which will have been supplied with your DS.
Other Settings
Konductor has other settings which default to sensible values and can, in general, remain unaltered.
Font Size
Use this option to modify the size of the text displayed in the "playlist" view. Values of "Small", "Medium" & "Large" are supported.
Disable Auto-Lock
By default iPhones will lock themselves after a predefined period. By selecting this option the iPhone will remain unlocked and allow you to control your DS for a protracted listening session. Note that you iPhone's screen will remain active during this time so battery usage will be increased.
Display Help Page
Setting this to "On" will re-display the help page which is shown when Konductor is invoked for the first time.
Discovery
V1.2 and upward of Konductor'11 have a separate Discovery page where settings related to DS discovery for Wi-Fi networks which do not support Apple Bonjour discovery can be added. More details can be found here.
Other Potential Options
If you don't have a ReadyNAS or don't run the Twonky media server then please contact us and we will talk you through the setup procedure.
Entering The Options On Your iPhone
The values you have now obtained should be used to complete the Settings screen as follows:
First press the home button at the bottom of you iPhone to bring up Springboard (also known as the iPhone home screen).
From there, select the standard Setting application.
Then scroll down to find Konductor and select that.
The Konductor settings pane will then be visible and the configuration information can be added from there.
